Twentieth Century Fox presents "Toys," a Baltimore Pictures Production of a Barry Levinson Film. Mark Johnson and Barry Levinson are the producers, and Charles Newirth and Peter Giuliano are the co-producers. Levinson is directing the film from a script by Valerie Curtin & Barry Levinson. Also starring are Michael Gambon ("The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover"), Joan Cusack ("Broadcast News"), Robin Wright ("The Princess Bride") and Grammy Award winner LL Cool J ("Mama Said Knock You Out").
ROBIN WILLIAMS is a three-time Oscar nominee, for "Good Morning, Vietnam," "Dead Poets Society" and "The Fisher King." His other screen roles include "Hook,""Awakenings," "Moscow on the Hudson" and "The World According to Garp."
Williams, who began his career as a stand-up comedian, has won two Grammies for his comedy records "Reality, What a Concept" and "An Evening at the Met." The star of television's phenomenally successful "Mork & Mindy," Williams won Emmies for his performances in the television specials "Carol, Carl, Whoopi and Robin" and "ABC Presents a Royal Gala."
BARRY LEVINSON most recently directed and produced, with Mark Johnson and Warren Beatty, "Bugsy," starring Beatty as mobster Bugsy Siegel, which was nominated for ten Academy Awards, including Best Director and Best Picture nominations for Levinson. "Bugsy" won Levinson Best Director and Best Picture Awards from the Los Angeles Film Critics, as well as the Golden Globe Award for Best Picture and DGA and WGA nominations.
In 1988 Levinson directed "Rain Man," starring Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise, which earned Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Actor (Hoffman). Levinson was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Screenplay for "Diner" and "Avalon." Other directing credits include "The Natural," "Young Sherlock Holmes" and "Tin Men." Prior to his directing career, Levinson was nominated with Valerie Curtin for an Academy Award for their screenplay for "...And Justice for All" and collaborated with Mel Brooks on the scripts for "Silent Movie" and "High Anxiety."
The creative team for "Toys" includes director of photography ADAM GREENBERG, A.S.C. (an Academy Award nominee for "Terminator 2: Judgement Day"), production designer FERDINANDO SCARFIOTTI (an Oscar-winner for "The Last Emperor") and two of Levinson's key collaborators from "Bugsy, " costume designer ALBERT WOLSKY, a two-time Oscar winner, and editor STU LINDER. Choreographing the film is ANTHONY THOMAS (Janet Jackson's "Rhythm Nation"), and the score is composed by HANS ZIMMER ("Rain Man") and TREVOR HORN (award-winning producer of such musicians as Rod Stewart and Paul McCartney).
